The Armory Show

My selection from the 2026 fair

I went through previews of The Armory Show and came out with Thirty-six works I love. These are the ones I’d recommend, collect for myself, or want to see more of.

They’re about history, craft, technical ability, and love. Love of people and place, love of the artist. Different reasons for every one of them.

What I know is there are people making work that speaks to their lives, their histories, their aspirations, their struggles with identity and expression, and the weight of the human experience. Some are working through that history to understand it. Others find no better way to communicate their freedom than making something we get the pleasure of experiencing.

My favorites, if I have to: Dominic Chambers, which might be the best work of the fair. Kandy G. Lopez, seven and a half feet of yarn that reads like the best street photography. Chloe Wise, who gives us less information than usual and says more. I’m obsessed with paint right now.

Exceptionally talented people, all of them.

The Armory Show, Javits Center, New York, September 24 - 27, 2026.
